At CorrEra Physical Therapy each session consists of one on one physical therapy services. We know that pelvic floor dysfunction is a very personal and sometimes difficult topic to discuss, thus, during your evaluation and subsequent treatment sessions every effort will be made to ensure your comfort. During your first visit you will meet with your therapist to discuss your current symptoms and concerns. This will also include reviewing your treatment goals and any pertinent changes in your routine. In order to perform a comprehensive assessment, the evaluation will consist of a physical examination of the muscles and joints within your pelvis, back, and hips. This may also include examination of the pelvic floor muscles. Your therapist will then provide an explanation of the results of your evaluation in relation to the issues you are experiencing and review a treatment plan with a home exercise program. At the end of your session we will schedule your next appointment (if needed).

New York is a Direct Access State, which means a physical therapist can evaluate and treat a patient without a referral for 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. However, at CorrEra Physical Therapy we encourage patients to have a referral from their physician by their second visit – we want to be in communication with your physician in order to provide you with the best care possible. Also, if you are seeking insurance coverage, some insurance companies require a referral before services are started to be eligible for reimbursement.

All providers at CorrEra PT are licensed physical therapists. Most major medical insurance providers offer reimbursement for physical therapy services. However, please be aware that CorrEra Physical Therapy is not an in-network provider for any insurance carrier, and does not provide direct billing to insurance carriers. You will be provided with an invoice at the end of each session that you may file with your insurance or medical savings plan for out-of-network reimbursement. Call customer service on your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network coverage for physical therapy prior to your appointment. You may also download an insurance benefit worksheet (forms section) to help you ask the insurance company the right questions about your physical therapy benefits. Please note that Medicare follows strict guidelines that do not cover Out of Network Physical Therapy Services. We are not a participating Medicare provider and do not take Medicare. If you are a Medicare beneficiary, we may only see you as a wellness client. For further information please do not hesitate to contact us.

Following evaluation, treatment sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis. As you progress, the frequency of your visits decreases. Each session builds on the previous and participation in your home exercise program is an essential component of your success.

Much of this is determined by the severity of your symptoms, your consistency with a home exercise program, and your ability to integrate changes into daily function. With good compliance, consistency with your follow-up appointments, and a good understanding of how to incorporate proper changes, many men and women require 6-8 sessions, spread over 2-3 months in some cases. Depending on the cause of your symptoms, this may take less or more time.
